It all began on..

that last day. We were standing on what felt like the edge of the world, cliffside above a black sand beach somewhere in New Zealand. Our car rental doors were open, music was playing, and we were trying to wrap our minds around the journey that was winding down. That was our last destination after living out of suitcases for the better part of a year, just the two of us, planning as we went along. We had both quit our jobs, left our lease, and weren't sure what the future had in store

During our return flight I thought about the people and places we met. The makers, bathers, and healers along the way. I thought about the verdant landscapes I could barely comprehend, and in contrast, a glacier that had retreated so far back you could now stand on the stone it once covered. I reflected on how a single suitcase allowed me to reassess all I really needed day-to-day - leading me to daydream about the multifunctional beauty of a bar of soap and the soapmaking hobby I had picked up a few years prior. Somewhere over the Pacific ocean, I felt a pull

That summer I began recipe developing to create a soothing, multi-use ritual for full body bathing, shaving, and beyond. A soap that left your skin feeling nourished, not stripped or dry, and felt interesting to hold. Something new, yet time-honored. Made from simple, gentle plants. By winter, we launched Wild Lather - and that bar turned out to be a triangle

For every batch, we take our creamy blend of five organic plant oils - olive, shea butter, coconut, camellia, and castor - saponify them, and combine them with naturally occurring clays and month-long herbal solar-infusions. We then swirl in the most beautiful cold-pressed and steam-distilled essential oils we can source, pour into traditional wooden molds, and patiently wait. Once solidified, we cut individual triangles and set them on an airy, open shelf to cure for several weeks - a time-honored process that's so worth the wait

Today, our offerings are informed by my on-going herbalism education and always with the earth, ritual, and utility in mind. We believe in less plastic and more plants in the bathing space which is why we invite you to compost or recycle our American hemp paper boxes after use. We have since moved to Pasadena, California where we pour batches in our tiny, sunny studio with so much love for the process. We hope they bring extra peace to your bathing space ♡ Liz + Conrad
